This sport, once reserved for aristocrats, is more than just an athletic activity—it embodies exceptional qualities such as strong willpower, teamwork, and leadership, which are hallmarks of elite individuals. The stroke seater of a varsity rowing team often serves as the student council president.

Our day-to-day training

From the first water training session in early spring to the perseverance in the cold of winter, every step reflects our passion and dedication to the sport of rowing, our unwavering effort, and commitment. Looking back on the past year, time seems soaked in sweat, with every moment recording our growth and transformation, every stroke infused with our hard work and determination.


Achievements Soaked in Sweat

Throughout this academic year, we actively participated in numerous regional and national youth rowing competitions. Each race was not only a test of our training outcomes but also a stepping stone toward higher goals. Through these valuable experiences, the students in the Double Excellence Rowing Program learned how to find strength in failure and unleash their potential in the face of challenges.


The Meaning of Growth

The value of rowing training goes far beyond the competitions themselves. It is not just a test of physical fitness and technical skills, but a comprehensive cultivation of willpower, teamwork, and overall physical and mental well-being for teenagers.

SDBC Qingpu Campus Head Coach: Zhao Li

Primarily responsible for coaching the Dual Excellence Rowing Program. A retired coxswain of the Chinese Olympic Rowing Team and an international-level elite athlete. She was a key member of the Chinese National Rowing Team at the 2016 Rio Olympics and has achieved numerous international accolades, including: Third place at the 2014 World Rowing Championships； Fourth place at the 2014 World Rowing Cup

Renowned international rowing coach and former head coach of the Chinese National Rowing Team, Hartmut Buschbacher serves as the Chief Advisor for the SHBS & SDBC Dual Excellence Program as well as the SDBC Rowing Club.

整体负责SDBC赛艇俱乐部运营并对SHBS赛艇双优项目负责与指导，清华大学学士，曾从事私募股权、战略咨询、企业管理等多个行业，在KKR, Roland Berger, Philips欧洲总部担任管理职位，在欧洲、美国、中国拥有工作与管理经验。

Responsible for overseeing the operations of the SDBC Rowing Club and providing leadership and guidance for the SHBS Dual Excellence Rowing Program. A Tsinghua University graduate, Qiu has professional experience across multiple industries, including private equity, strategic consulting, and corporate management. She has held management positions at KKR, Roland Berger, and Philips' European headquarters, with extensive work and management experience in Europe, the United States, and China.
