Respected parents, distinguished guests, dear teachers, and students,
Good morning!
Thank you all for attending the 2025 graduation ceremony to celebrate and bless this year’s graduates.
In Chinese culture, the number "6" is considered auspicious, symbolizing smoothness and good fortune. Today, on June 6th, we take this "auspicious day" to wish our graduates, teachers, parents, and guests "good fortune in the future"—may everything go well in all your endeavors.
I don’t often visit the campus because I have full trust in and deep gratitude for the work of all the teachers under the leadership of Principal Chen, Principal Chris, and Principal Liu.
However, I make it a priority to attend every graduation ceremony. This is a shining moment for students as they undergo a transformative milestone in life, a joyous moment for teachers to reap the fruits of their educational efforts, a heartwarming moment for parents who have sacrificed so much to see their children grow into adulthood, and a touching moment for graduates to express gratitude to their alma mater.
Last year, I shared three pieces of advice with the Class of 2024. This year, I’d like to offer three words to the Class of 2025: "Delight in Yourself," "Understand Others," and "Surmount Mountains."
1. Delight in Yourself
In learning and life in college, you must strive tirelessly for excellence, but avoid excessive anxiety and self-sabotage. Find ways to ease your mind—a sense of ease is key to unlocking your potential. Learn to accept that things don’t always go as planned, for the journey of striving is far more rewarding than the outcome.
2. Understand Others
Everyone has his or her unique experience that is worth learning from. Knowledge and wisdom come not only from books but also from human interactions. Safely and wisely, engage with people of different backgrounds—observe, reflect, communicate, and collaborate.
3. Surmount Mountains
Dear students, life is like climbing a mountain. Just as mountains have peaks and valleys, life has its highs and lows. When we "meet at the summit," we may feel on top of the world—yet we must remain humble, cautious, and free from arrogance. And when you find yourselves lingering in the valleys, it’s okay to vent your frustrations, but never give up the climb. Remember: every stumbling block is, in truth, a stepping stone upward.
Graduates, have faith in yourselves. You have the ability to "build roads through mountains and bridges across rivers," to overcome every obstacle on your climb. But as you forge ahead, don’t forget to stay connected with your family, share updates, and return to your alma mater to reflect on how far you’ve come.
Wishing you all the very best on your journey ahead!
Thank you!
