CONGRATULATIONS

In the recently concluded CTB Global Youth Research Innovation Forum National Forum, our school's Nice2CU Pioneer Team stood out from over 2,000 strong teams across the country with their outstanding research topic and profound humanistic care, winning the first-class honor of the national forum and successfully securing the qualification to advance to the Harvard Global Forum!

Seven Years of Deep Cultivation:

From a Fusion Run to a Milestone

01

Grand Honor

In the autumn of 2019, the Special Olympics Inclusive Run event in Shanghai brought Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School and Zhujiajiao Special Education School together for the first time. When the event resumed in 2023 after the pandemic, it felt like a reunion of old friends, and the emotions that had been accumulated were instantly rekindled. That year, a student club of great significance was officially established - Nice2CU. Its full name is "Nice to Connect & Unfold", meaning "It's nice to connect and unfold together". This rope tied around the ankles not only connects the steps but also bridges two originally parallel worlds, achieving a synchronized heartbeat at this moment.

On Children's Day in 2024, students from Hongrun Boyuan School were invited to perform the stage play "The Little Lizard Looking for Its Tail" at the Special Education School. The relationship between the two schools shifted from temporary activities to regular cooperation. The Nice2CU club operates under the model of "regular companionship + skill development + social connection", organizing activities every two weeks, ranging from coffee making to handcraft art, from game interaction to tea art experiences, making companionship a daily routine. In the same year, during the "Building Shanghai" project-based learning activity, students from both schools jointly held a public roadshow at the Qingpu Wanda Plaza. Students from the Special Education School personally made coffee and sold it to strangers, completing the leap from a simulated scenario to the real world.

In the early winter of 2025, at the charity fair held at the Longemond in Changning, Nice2CU and four other clubs stood out among over 30 shortlisted clubs from across the city.

Star Companion Program: Illuminating the Path of Autism Care with Academic Innovation

02

Splendid Youth

In October 2025, the Nice2CU club decided to form a vanguard team consisting of five students: Xie Haochen, Wang Kejing, Zheng Zehan, Wan Yixuan, and Wu Yi. With a deep concern for the autism community, they threw themselves into the fierce competition of the CTB Global Youth Research and Innovation Forum. They chose the topic "Star Companion Program: Peer Support and Inter-school Expansion for Autistic Teenagers", focusing on the fields of education and psychological cognition. After four months of meticulous preparation, they independently designed a "3+1" framework for peer support for autistic teenagers. This achievement not only represents a significant leap in the club's professionalism but also stands as a leading exploration in this field by domestic middle school students.

Highlights of the Competition: Proving One's Mettle, Crowned with Glory

In February, the team successfully advanced to the national forum. Over the past weekend, after two and a half days of intense presentation and defense, they won high recognition from the judges with their solid research, sincere presentation and innovative solutions, and ultimately won the first prize at the national level, advancing powerfully to the Harvard Global Forum!

In April, Harvard University will be their next stop to voice to the world.

Teacher's Words: The Power of Lifting Up

03

Promising Future

Teacher William Yu won the CTB Outstanding Organization Award, and Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School was also certified as a "CTB Rising Star Base" - this is a full recognition of the school's continuous promotion of innovative research and public welfare practice. As Principal Liu said, "The support of our teachers has made our children more confident and bold!"

Teacher Yu believes: "For public welfare, what we ultimately truly obtain may not lie in any thinking or construction, but in those moments of mutual understanding, in the most sincere feedback established between people and between people and the world. At the first club class of each semester, I always tell the students that I hope one day, no matter which teacher or which students are involved, there will still be a group of people doing the same thing by the Dian Lake in Zhujiagang."

From chance to certainty, from the original aspiration to deep commitment, this group of teenagers responded to the "Seven Questions" raised by their instructor Yu Shuming with their actions:

● Are we really "accomplishing something" or "meeting someone"? When there is no applause or feedback, will we still continue?

● In every interaction with our autistic friends, are we "accomplishing something" or "meeting someone"? Do we truly realize the difference between these two states?

● Compared with other disadvantaged groups, when we offer our help and make efforts, autistic friends may not give effective responses or any responses at all. How will we judge the "meaning" of what we do? When there is no applause or feedback, will we still continue?

● As high school students in an international school with a relatively high degree of freedom, we sometimes still find it hard to balance our time and energy. When we move from school to society and devote ourselves to public welfare for a long time, this contradiction will become more prominent. How will we deal with it?

● Public welfare has an inherent long-term nature. In a sense, good public welfare should be "connected into a line". How should we maintain a long-term mindset to do a small act of public welfare well for a long time?

● We have an instinctive compassion for disadvantaged groups. But on the path of humanistic public welfare, how will we ultimately take the leap and "put ourselves in", rather than more out of sympathy or an unconscious sense of superiority?

● How do we experience "people" and their existence in the process of doing public welfare?

These questions have no standard answers, but they guide every step forward.

Light up this moment with innovation and warm every star with companionship.

From the playground of the 2019 Special Olympics Inclusive Run, to the business district of Longemont, and then to the halls of Harvard University - the steps of Nice2CU and all the clubs of Hongrun Boyuan have never ceased.

Let's look forward together to the stage of Harvard in April, where the Nice2CU team will carry the "Star Companion Program" to dialogue with the world and raise a louder voice for the autism community!
