“No sports, no Tsinghua”—this long-standing slogan has become a widely accepted truth in the education community. Qiu Ziling, founder of the SDBS Rowing Club and a seasoned industry veteran with 15 years of rowing experience, highlighted Tsinghua University's athletic heritage during his presentation. He cited Harvard University research indicating that students actively engaged in sports achieve GPAs that are 0.2 points higher on average. The focus, stress resilience, and time management skills cultivated through athletics serve as the “invisible accelerators” for academic success.
Mr. Chen Wenguo, the head of school, wholeheartedly agreed: "At SHBS, we never view sports as a burden on learning. On the contrary, they are the best form of relaxation and supplementation. Children who learn to manage their time through training tend to be more focused in the classroom and more composed when facing pressure."
