Art

Music

Biology

SHBS provides students with a diverse platform for the coordinated development of academics and personal strengths. The school emphasizes a solid academic foundation while offering specialized courses in areas such as the arts, rowing, golf, music, biology, and the SRCC Dual Excellence Program. The school has carefully assembled a team of professional coaches to ensure that students receive high-quality training in their chosen areas of interest after their regular academic studies. During the 2025 International Curriculum Experience Camp, students will have the opportunity to explore their potential and enhance their skills through short-term specialized courses—such as collaborative rowing, biology experiments, and artistic creation—broadening their horizons and discovering new possibilities for personal growth through hands-on practice.

The SHBS leverages its private dock on the shores of Dadian Lake to create a unique watersports education experience.Under the guidance of professional coaches, students progress from land drills to on-water practice, mastering rowing techniques step by step under the summer sun. With synchronized oars cutting through the calm lake, their teamwork leaves ripples in the water. Though drenched in sweat, every face beams with accomplishment upon returning to shore—this is far more than a sports class; it’s a lesson in teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth.

On the Golf Training Course, professional coaches guide students with patience and precision, helping them master core techniques like chipping and putting. The coaching team doesn’t just demonstrate proper form and offer tailored feedback—they foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere, cheering enthusiastically for successful shots and offering warm reassurance when mistakes happen.  Beyond refining their swing in a fun, low-pressure setting, students cultivate something even more valuable:the resilience and sportsmanship to face challenges head-on.

In the Dual-Excellence Art Class, students dove into crafting with shrink plastic under their teacher’s guidance. The instructor carefully explained each step—sanding, drawing, and heat-shrinking—while moving around the classroom to offer personalized tips on color matching and composition.

As warm air from the heat gun swept over them, the palm-sized artworks shrank into tiny, vibrant versions of themselves, their colors intensifying magically. Every student created something unique: a cat under a starry sky, dazzling floral patterns, personalized signature designs… With the teacher’s help, these pieces were then transformed into wearable keychains or pendants.

More than just a lesson in blending creativity with technology, this class left everyone with a sense of accomplishment—and the pure joy of making art.

The music classroom is equipped with a diverse array of instruments and professional gear, offering students of all levels ample opportunities to explore. The teacher begins by carefully assessing each student’s musical background, then tailors the instruction accordingly: those with prior experience delve into advanced work like composition and music production, while beginners start with instrument basics and vocal training, gradually discovering the joy of performance through patient demonstrations.

The class also features highlights of outstanding works by past students, effectively sparking creativity. Alongside structured vocal and ear-training exercises, everyone gradually immerses themselves in a harmonious, uplifting musical world—experiencing both the pride of mastery and the beauty of artistic expression.

In the biology laboratory experience course, the teacher first introduced to the students the relationship between sugar and beverages, and then led everyone to use urine sugar test strips to detect the sugar content of three drinks: water, milk tea, and Pocari Sweat. Everyone put on lab coats and gloves, and under the teacher's step-by-step instructions, they immersed the test strips in the samples. After a few seconds, they observed the color changes. When they saw the milk tea turn black, Pocari Sweat turn light green, and the water remain unchanged, the students were also quite surprised. Finally, the students put the test results in the reagent and presented them. In this short experiment, everyone not only understood the differences in sugar content but also gained a new understanding of the beverages they often drink.

At the beginning of the SRCC Super Robots class, the teacher first introduced to us what SRCC robots are and detailed the rules of the VEX robot competition to the students. Then, the senior students demonstrated the operation methods of the robots to the classmates. With the help of the teacher and senior students, the students successfully controlled the robots and had three matches with the robot built by the school team this season. In addition, the senior student also introduced the robot club to the students and welcomed all students interested in robots to join. This class gave the students the opportunity to get close to programming and robot operation, feel its charm, and understand what abilities this competition can cultivate in engineers, such as mechanics, programming, and teamwork.

During this fulfilling and exciting course experience, students not only gained knowledge in the classroom but also found courage and growth through hands-on practice. Whether it was teamwork while rowing across the lake, focus on the golf course, sparks of creativity in artistic expression, or the thrill of discovery in scientific experiments, each moment became a precious mark on their journey of youth. The 2025 International Curriculum Experience Camp concluded amid laughter and joy, yet the students’ stories continue. Carrying with them the harvest of skills and passion, they are ready to embrace an even broader future.
