William:

Ethan:

Dylan:

Orlando:

With early hints of autumn in the air and the sunlight perfectly gentle, the campus of SHBS was cast in a warm glow. On August 31, 2025, the school solemnly held the opening ceremony for the new academic year, filling the entire campus with vibrant energy and renewed hope. What was particularly impressive was that during this ceremony, the speeches delivered by the principal, faculty representatives, and several student representatives all remarkably converged on the theme of "growth," weaving together a shared and coherent narrative of youth striving forward with unmistakable synergy.

Pre-show Performances Ignite the Atmosphere

Before the ceremony officially began, the campus was already alive with cheerful singing and lively instrumental performances. Students took turns presenting carefully prepared warm-up acts—some lively and bright, others melodious and graceful—showcasing not only their diverse talents but also igniting the atmosphere with full enthusiasm. Amid rounds of applause, the opening ceremony kicked off a wonderful start to the new semester.

Multiple Perspectives on "Self-Growth"

Amid warm applause, representatives of different roles took the stage one after another, sharing their insights and expectations on the theme of "self-growth" from their unique perspectives.

Teacher Representative William Yu: "Finding Oneself" Is a Lifelong Competition

Mr. William Yu centered his speech on "finding oneself," elaborating from three dimensions: "Who am I?", "Getting along with others," and "Establishing oneself in the long river of life." He pointed out that "finding oneself is a lifelong competition," and technological devices like smartphones are like "hidden bosses" on the journey of self-exploration, constantly testing students' focus and self-awareness. Finally, as a "fellow traveler," he called on everyone: "Let us join hands and continue this journey of self-exploration in the new semester."

11th-Grade Student Representative Ethan Lu: From Internal Struggle to Breakthrough, Courage Guides Growth

Ethan Lu shared his summer experience, which was "both fulfilling and challenging." He admitted to having struggled with procrastination and internal conflict but ultimately achieved a breakthrough through focus and perseverance. This journey of self-discovery helped him understand the true meaning of growth. He encouraged his peers: "No matter what the past held, let’s move forward with courage and determination in the new semester."

Freshman Camp Leader Dylan Wu: Strive for Passion with a "Quasi-Adult" Mindset

Dylan Wu defined his identity as "almost an adult." He shared how a chance encounter led him to the school and admitted to having reservations about boarding. However, the diverse campus activities and the warm care from teachers and classmates quickly alleviated his concerns. He reflected, "Here, I have felt the power of growth. In the new semester, let us fight side by side as adults and warriors, for ourselves and for those who love us."

12th-Grade Student Representative Orlando Wu: Balancing Goals and Health During the Sprint

Orlando Wu emphasized that 12th grade is a critical sprint period in high school. Reflecting on her growth over the past two years, she deeply realized that this stage requires not only a clear sense of purpose but also strong execution. At the same time, she reminded everyone warmly: "While sprinting, do not forget to balance physical and mental health, as it is the foundation for sustained efforts." Finally, she expressed gratitude to all who had supported her and wished her fellow 12th-grade students success in receiving offers from their dream universities.

Recognizing Excellence, Inspiring Progress

During the ceremony, the school recognized outstanding students and groups in various areas. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, classes with the highest average scores in each grade, top three GPA achievers, academic competition winners, as well as "Most Improved Students," "Straight-A Students," and "Wenhui Scholarship recipients" took the stage to receive their awards. Outstanding clubs and groups such as "Most Promising Class," "Most Competitive Class," and "Strongest Class" were also honored. This recognition not only affirmed past efforts but also served as motivation to "achieve even greater glory" in the new semester.

Principal's Message: Find Yourself, Find the Meaning of Life

Principal Bowen's speech centered on "finding oneself and finding the meaning of life." Facing the era of information explosion and AI, he posed a core question: "How do we anchor ourselves amidst the chaos?" He provided answers from two aspects: "Seeing our unique selves in practice" and "Integrating personal passion into social value," emphasizing that "finding" is not an overnight achievement but a long journey that allows for trial and error. He urged students: "Embrace the vast world, deepen your cultural roots, and while pursuing self-discovery, explore the meaning of life."

This opening ceremony was not only a summary of the past but also a call to the future. It is believed that with the joint efforts of all teachers and students, Hongrun Boyuan’s students will use "self-growth" as their brush to write an even more brilliant chapter of youth in the new semester.
